Cirque Le Masque

In Paris, Athens, Dubai, Caracas as well as in numerous other world capitals, and in cities across the U.S. from Las Vegas to Atlantic City, audiences have been thrilled by the theatrical wizardry of the extraordinary international troupe, Cirque Le Masque.

The gravity-defying performers of Cirque Le Masque bring an entirely new dimension to aerial acrobatics and the circus arts. In this sophisticated, animal free European-style circus, brilliantly costumed jugglers, acrobats, comics, and aerialists perform gasp-inducing acts of balance, grace, strength and detailed teamwork, set to spellbinding special effects and creatively inventive lighting, choreography and music. Carnivale is filled with energy, color and an original story line. It is the ultimate theatrical experience!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The story behind the performance is based on Rio de Janeiro's "Carnivale" - touted as, "the world's greatest party".

The show begins with young tourist, Moira, carrying her suitcase and wandering through the crowd - annoyed by the sounds of the big city. She proceeds to pack as the sounds of the jet liner prepare her to be swept off to her dream fantasy in Rio. She has always wanted to become a cirque or Rio performer or showgirl.
We follow Moira on her arrival in Rio, where the rhythms of Carnivale excite, invigorate and enliven her. Through the magical and captivating aerialists, acrobats, comics and character performers, Moira sheds the weight of the world - layer by layer.

Moira then meets Terrence and Jen at the Carnivale and begins a journey to be something more than any of them could hope. All they need to do is find the courage to change...

Join us for this amazing show from the Cirque family of performances!

Must be 19 or over to attend.

Julian Austin

What best-selling country music artist do you know who can successfully pull off the quintessential line “even the dog knows she ain’t comin’ back” on the same album on which he records covers of tunes by Queen, Elvis Presley and Rod Stewart?

Born in Sussex, New Brunswick, Julian Austin has written and played music since he was in his mid-teens, dabbling in every genre from heavy metal to rock to 80’s pop before falling in love with the new country music sound that was taking shape in the early 90’s.

His first album, “What My Heart Already Knows”, more than justified that musical choice, earning Julian a certified CRIA gold record (50k+ sales) and the 1997 Wrangler Rising Star Award from the Canadian Country Music Association. His first single “Little Ol’ Kisses” went #1 on radio and also made the CMT Top 30 Videos of 1997, followed in 1998 with the Best Country Single award at the first annual Canadian Radio Music Awards. That year Julian also earned several Juno nominations.

Norm MacDonald

Perhaps best known for his offbeat delivery of "the fake news" on "Saturday Night Live" for five seasons, Norm MacDonald is a major comedic presence. Aside from his notable characterizations of Bob Dole and Burt Reynolds, MacDonald proved that his acerbic wit and writing were not to be contained to just the small screen.

MacDonald starred in the film Dirty Work, which he also co-wrote; and, as the voice of Lucky the Dog in the Eddie Murphy hit, in Dr. Doolittle. Macdonald was also seen in Billy Madison with Adam Sandler, and in Milos Foreman's Academy Award-nominated The People Vs. Larry Flint.

Other feature film projects for MacDonald include Pittsburgh, scripted and co-directed by Golden Globe-winning and Academy Award-nominated screenwriters Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, who wrote The People Vs. Larry Flint; and the 1999 Andy Kaufman biopic, Man On The Moon.

A native of Quebec City, Canada, MacDonald began his stand-up career in comedy clubs throughout Canada. Upon moving to Los Angeles, he became a writer on the ABC hit series, "Roseanne".

Opening for Mr. MacDonald is Yuk Yuk's own Stan Thomson:

He has been featured on CHCH-TV's "Comedy at Club 54" which airs nationally on the Comedy Network. Stan is the quintessential Everyman. Before stepping on to a comedy stage, he worked on an oil rig, drove truck, was an apprentice electrician, a substitute teacher and a cable TV installer. Currently, he has successfully dedicated himself to the world of standup comedy.

Charlie Major

He's more Mellencamp then Merle. His lyrics champion the 'Blue Collar Hero' in a manner that resonates of Springsteen and other roots rock legends, but it is in the country music format that Charlie Major finds his home.

Rising to the forefront of the Canadian Music scene in the early to mid-nineties, Charlie had a heyday at radio as he became the first Canadian artist in history to score six #1 hits off of his debut album. Nine more chart topping hits would follow, and Charlie would crisscross the world headlining tours and connecting with his fans at fairs and festivals.

But as the old saying goes "fame comes with a cost" and it wasn't long before a major US label signed Charlie, moved him and his family to Nashville. The record label thought his records might sell better in the US if he appeared on the album cover in a Stetson, and added more fiddles and steel guitars to his edgy songs. Even though Major might sell out concerts, however, he was not the type of guy who 'sells out' his career. Charlie's integrity to remain true to his fans, himself and his music was immovable and so he relinquished the dream of the big US record deal and returned to his homeland where he continues to be embraced.

Over a decade later Charlie is as successful as ever, he headlines his own tours and pairs up with the likes of ZZ Top for arenas full of fans from coast to coast. He has sold nearly half a million records in Canada alone and won 3 Juno Awards and 7 CCMA's, but you wouldn't know it to meet him, and he wouldn't tell you. He wears the cloak of humility, just like the hardworking folks that he represents in his music.

Truly a Canadian legend and one of the accomplished 'nice guys' in the game, Charlie would not have it any other way.

Ronnie Milsap

**Tickets purchased for Aug. 12 will be honoured on Oct. 14.

Refunds are also available if required; please contact the Dakota Dunes Box Office before September 30th.**

Ronnie Milsap spent the first six years of his life in a small rural town in the Great Smoky Mountains hamlet of Robbinsville, North Carolina before moving to Raleigh to attend a school for the blind -- where he began studying violin and piano.

Milsap moved to Memphis and, by 1969, joined forces with Elvis Presley – for whom he played piano on hits such as “Kentucky Rain” and “Don’t Cry Daddy.” Although he was a versatile studio musician, Milsap was set on being at center-stage, a goal he’d achieve by 1974 when he scored his first number-one country single, “Pure Love.”

He’d go on to top the country chart more than a dozen times in the ‘70s, with such enduring hits as “Let My Love Be Your Pillow” and “What a Difference You’ve Made in My Life” – the latter of which is included on Milsap’s latest album, Then Sings My Soul.

Milsap has been awarded six Grammys and a dozen CMA Awards, including four turns as Male Vocalist of the Year. The success he achieved in the country arena spilled over into the pop and adult contemporary realms, thanks to songs like “I Wouldn’t Have Missed It for the World” and “Any Day Now.”

And even with 40 #1 chart-toppers under his belt -- not to mention avidly-received live shows across the world, Ronnie Milsap is still growing and surprising long-time fans. Then Sings My Soul documents that growth process, and also proves that even now, the kid from Robbinsville is still firmly in touch with his roots.
